eyecookBorn and raised in California, Michelle began her first professional career as an urban planner in 1975. After marrying and the raising of two children, she went back to school, this time in the culinary field. Passionate about food, she began her second career as a chef-instructor, managing a cooking school and teaching classes in and around Los Angeles. Culinary work also included catering and recipe development.

In 2009, a bad fall left her pained and partially immobile and in 2010 she was diagnosed with pre-cancer in one of her breasts. Always interested in healthier eating, Michelle began researching holistic approaches to health and healing, reading as much as she could about chronic and age-related diseases and their relationship to diet and lifestyle choices. Most of 2010 was spent healing herself through better nutrition and more natural medical strategies. She not only eliminated her pain and regained full body movement; she lost 35 pounds, is cancer-free and feels great. That same year, she received formal training from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition of New York City, an accredited program that promotes bio-individuality and a “total person” approach to health and well-being.

Upon graduation, Michelle became a Certified Holistic Health Coach and is a member of the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. She started her own company, Natural Style Health, and is committed to helping others improve their own lifestyle practices with a goal toward optimal health. She leads workshops and tours on nutrition and cooking, and offers individual health and nutrition coaching in individual, group, and corporate settings. She writes and publishes an online monthly newsletter and develops delicious and nutritious recipes for Discovery Eye Foundation’s “Eye Cook” section of their website.
