| A Message from our Medical Director |
Dr. Anthony Nesburn
Starting almost 40 years ago with a focus on keratoconus, we have expanded our research and services to help the millions of people affected by macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and other eye diseases. The job of DEF is to use our experience and understanding of eye disease to explore the vision research being done around the world and target those groundbreaking research projects we feel have the most potential for finding the treatments and cures for retinal and corneal disease including eye diseases such as retinitis pigmentosa and glaucoma. UC Irvine is one of the most highly-regarded young university eye centers in the US, with some of the most promising cutting-edge research we could find. We are proud to be supporting many research projects there as well as a collaborative effort with nine other universities around the world, known as the Stem Cell Retina Regeneration Program. As you explore the new DEF website, I hope we become your resource for current eye research as well as education and support for keratoconus and macular degeneration. Don’t forget, we can’t do all of this with you’re your financial support. Everyday we are closer to finding new treatments and a cure. Please help us continue to advance, with your donation. |
